On behalf of the Vinfen community, it is our pleasure to announce that on June 11, 2020 Vinfen President & CEO Bruce Bird, PhD was appointed as the new Board Chair at the Association For Behavioral Healthcare (ABH), located in Natick, MA.
ABH is a statewide advocacy association that represents over 80 community-based mental health and addiction treatment provider organizations and provides leadership and statewide coordination on important public policies, financing, preferred clinical models, and quality assurance issues. ABH continuously fights for high-quality, community-based care for families and individuals with mental health challenges and those that experience addiction and substance-use disorders.
Dr. Bird has served as a Board Member for ABH since 2010 and more recently served as Treasurer from 2016-2018 and as Vice Chair from 2018-2020. He looks forward to this new opportunity as Board Chair to continue to advocate for people in need. “I would like to thank the members of the ABH Board for electing me to this position as well as Diane Gould (outgoing Chair) whose shoes will be hard to fill,” commented Dr. Bird. “ABH’s voice has never been more important than now, when we are faced with unprecedented challenges in serving individuals with mental health and substance use disorder treatment needs,” he added.
Joining Dr. Bird as officers of ABH’s Board include President & CEO of Open Sky Community Services Ken Bates, MA who will serve as Vice Chair, President & CEO of The Home for Little Wanderers Lesli Suggs, LICSW who will serve as Treasurer, and CEO of Stanley Street Treatment and Resources (SSTAR) Nancy Paull, MS who will serve as Clerk. Dr. Bird looks forward to working alongside such talented people including the incredible Board Members who work at organizations across the state.
